Project: SHATTERED

Overview

Welcome to Project: SHATTERED. Please read this part before diving into the archives.

What is Project: SHATTERED?

Project: SHATTERED is my first universe that I actually stuck with. As you can see from this page, it has tons of worldbuilding. I haven't gotten around to writing stories about it, despite it being first created all the way back in June 18, 2025.

Basically, it's set in the US where some people are born with powers. The government takes these people that have powers and put them in labs. They tell the general public that these people are dangerous and that they're just putting them in prison. The labs are NOT a prison; they're much worse. By doing this, the government wants to create a weapon that they can use to take over the world. Overused trope, I know.

Why does it exist?

Tbh, I can't remember why I started Project: SHATTERED. Even going back through the versions of the one google doc I have for it, it's still kinda confusing to me. For all I know, it could have been made just as a google doc to contain my characters that had a backstory in a lab. But it's grown so much, and I know it's definitely more than a google doc for my OC's. I literally just put all my worldbuilding ideas (that would make sense) into here, and I think I make it work somehow. With hopes and dreams.

Timeline

note: under construction. please help. it all fell down. my tail is stuck in debris.

Labs

A section for my labs. I just now realize they're underdeveloped.

What are the labs?

The labs are the main point of Project: SHATTERED. Without them, it'd be another "woah look at these SICK superpowers!" world. In them, they experiment on and mainly do whatever they want with the subjects. Law enforcement turns a blind eye to whatever the labs do with their subjects.

Who runs them?

The government runs all these labs and gives them funding to keep operating. Again, the government does this because they want to create a weapon and take over the world. Excuses so that I can make whatever weird thing I want and put it in there.

Naming conventions

The labs organize their files with naming conventions. This also helps differentiate which subject is in which lab.

They put the lab's identifying letter with a dash separating the letter and the subject id. After that, they put their subject's real name- or whatever they wish to be called- in quotation marks.

For example, if the lab's letter was D, the subject id was 322, and the subject's name was Devin, it would look like this: Subject D-322 "Devin" For artificial species, they put an S after the lab's identifying letter and then the species ID and species name. ex. HS-25 "Gleebus"

Lab records

Archived documentation from the labs. Some files may be incomplete, corrupted, or freaky.

Artifical species

Species KS-23 "Zoryth" Gravisoma Amphibius

A drawing of a Zoryth.

Our first semi-aquatic species, the Zoryth is a very social creature. Though they are social, they aren't the brightest. There are many documented deaths of Zoryths in the facility. Observations include previously undocumented mortality reasons. They can be very dramatic. Employees have observed them flopping over and playing dead when upset.
The average adult Zoryth is anywhere from 5 to 10 feet long. Their skin ranges anywhere from light brown to dark green. Occasionally, they can be blue. They weigh around 16,500 pounds at 4 years of age. The average lifespan of a Zoryth is 4-6 years. Theoretically, they could live over 200 years, but not one has made it past age 6 yet. Zoryths never stop growing. Zoryths have long, powerful, shark-like tails to swim. They also have evolved to have six small spikes- three on their thick neck and three on their back. They have two long tendrils on their head and four longer tendrils on their back.
These creatures use the tendrils on their head and on their backs to hear, detecting the smallest of vibrations and appearing to convert them to sound. When in the water, they tuck in their arms and legs and use their powerful tail to propel them.
They live in packs similar to that of wolves, hunting together and protecting each other when needed. Their packs usually include 7-10 Zoryths. They are very active, too, swimming around in water and sleeping peacefully on land by night. They are curious creatures, exploring the different areas they're in with a high level of interest.
Their litters range from 5 to 7 babies called "pups." These pups are fiercely protected by most of the pack. They stay close to their parents for the first six months of their life and then these pups start to learn how to hunt and swim. Sometimes, a Zoryth gives birth to a runt, and runts usually don't survive longer than two weeks. In that scenario, one of our specialized scientists nurses the runt until they're big enough to go back to their pack.
The Zoryth is usually found in our designated forest area, located just to the side of the facility with very high security. Zoryths like to roam, so we have supplied them with plenty of space. Since they are semi-aquatic creatures, the forest contains plenty of lakes and rivers.
They like to eat fish, but occasionally dart out of the water to catch birds of prey. Zoryths have also been observed to eat other creatures, including deer, beavers, and raccoons.
They have been created quite recently, so further observation is required.

Incidents...

Independent species

There's a clear distinction between independent and artifical species. What is that, you say? Well. Independent species are species that naturally exist in the world. Artificial species are those engineered in the labs regardless of purpose.
